As a developer, when deciding which store to develop for, it is important to consider the App Store and Google Play store from a variety of perspectives. This includes looking at things such as revenue, potential, app quality, security and the overall developer friendliness of each store This presentation is a quick comparison of the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store

When it comes to revenue potential, the App Store generally outperforms Google Play. In terms of pure numbers, the App Store generates around double the revenue of Google Play. This is because Apple users are generally willing to spend more money on apps than Android users. However, it is worth noting that there are many more Android users than iOS users, so despite generating less revenue per user, Google Play actually generates more total revenue than the App Store.

When it comes to app quality and bug concerns , the App Store is generally considered to be more stable and reliable than Google Play. This is because Apple has a more rigorous approval process for apps, meaning that only high-quality apps tend to make it onto the store. In contrast, Google Play has a more relaxed approval process, meaning that there are more low-quality and buggy apps on the store.

When it comes to security, the App Store is generally considered to be more secure than Google Play. This is because Apple has stricter controls over what apps are allowed into their store. This means that there is less chance of a malicious app making it onto the App Store. However, this also means that there is a smaller selection of apps available on the App Store. In contrast, Google Play does not have the same focus on security, meaning that there are more opportunities for malicious actors to exploit vulnerabilities.

Google Play. is generally seen as being more developer friendly than the App Store due to its relaxing approach to quality and security. This means that it is easier for developers to put their apps on the Google Play Store. The App Store bases its selection of apps on quality assurance, which also means the approval process can be a challenge. As far as resources, Apple tends to provide better support for developers and has a more streamlined (although rigid & strict) app approval process for getting apps onto their store.  However, the Google Play store is growing rapidly and is closing the gap in terms of developer support.

At the end of the day, there is no clear winner when it comes to the App Store vs Google Play debate. It really depends on the specific needs of the developer. However, it is worth considering all of the above factors before making a decision.
